Well I'm still without power and only posting this thanks to a generator that was loaned to me today. I'm hoping to get my power turned back on tomorrow but that's being optimistic. The power has been off since about 11PM Thursday night and the house temperature is 44 degrees. This is an improvement over the 37 degrees last night when outside temperatures dipped to about 15 degrees. With the generator, I have two space heaters going, a sump pump and a roaring fireplace in the living room.

There have been worse ice storms in my area but this is the first time I have ever been three days (going on four) without power. The amount of trees and power lines down around here is unbelievable. This was a weird ice storm in which the ice adhered only to trees and power lines. The pavement never really iced up at all. But we had four inches of rain so it made for really thick ice, which brought down very many trees and branches.

Hello, hello ... this is CapnJack calling from the frozen world of NH ... is there anyone out there?

5 days with out power ain't much fun, but I had time to read some Thomas Paine, Washington's farewell address, and many other writings form the “dead old white people” by candlelight the past 4 nights.

Thank goodness for a wood stove.

We are not slated to get power till Friday 12/19 hopefully.
