Throughout history, it has conjured up images of witchcraft and magic. In the Middle Ages, it was burned alive for its supposedly supernatural powers.
In North America, it is considered unlucky to cross paths with it.
Many shelters during the month of October ban its adoption out of concern it may be abused as a result of the image it portrays on Halloween. The black cat has come a long way since the 15th century. And though its supernatural image in the 21st century has largely been relegated to folklore and mythology, many in society still consider it a social misfit because of, well, its color, or lack thereof.Indeed, the black cats main enemy is its own genetic makup.
I have two black cats. Adpoted both from the shelter - one as an adult. They’re spoiled rotten and pretty lucky now!
Tuxedo kitties are adorable!
HehHeh
I have a jet black female cat that is 10-years-old that I have adopted from the local no-kill shelter I voluteer at. She is a sweetheart and is looking forward to her first Christmas with me. =^..^=
Here name is Negretia, which means “black”. =^..^=
We had a Siamese who adopted us. A couple days later she had a litter of kittens in the moving van as we moved from city to country. 4 white kittens and 1 black. We named the black one Benson and he would wade in the shallows of our pond catching catfish twice his size. He’d bring them to the house and leave them at the front door. Took a cottonmouth to take him down. He was the coolest!
Naaaahhh, that's just Angror.
Here's our precious Daphne, as far as she's concerned it's her world and we just live in it. Her hobbies include sleeping on the kids beds and tormenting our grey longhaired cat Apollo every chance she gets...
My sweet little Bonnie Cat was solid black. She found me beside the largest lake West of the Continental Divide, so I named her Bonnie Blue Lake.
This is a Savannah kitten. Half African Serval and half domestic cat.
They weigh between 10-25 lbs when full grown.
Nice kitty. Say, where is the dachshund?
Right here
Aw, I wish I could adopt a kitty - I’d probably naturally gravitate towards a black cat, as black is pretty much my favorite color anyways.
disgusted kitty says 'you're not fooling me with that forged document, obama! Humanz tells big lies!
>>Hed lay on my wifes chest at night, and she would pet him. As she drifted off to sleep, Al would extend one toenail into the soft flesh of her chin, just enough to wake her up, and continue petting him...
Boy, did he ever have your wife trained. Or perhaps I should say... BLACKMAILED!
“Tristan!” -heard most often after a spectacular crash is heard.
(Tristan Cameron the Black [as opposed to Kearen Marie of Borg], fitting name for a warrior, if only the poor cat weren’t so lacking in the brain department. He’s easily scared by his own tail...)
