The Trib reports on a fundraiser Jesse Jackson Jr (or aka Candidate #5) held last Saturday to raise money for a possible Jackson US Senate bid. Jackson insisted Wednesday he did nothing wrong in suggestions deals were being made for him to obtain Obama's vacant US Senate seat.
Blagojevich himself attended Jackson's fundraiser, the Tribune learned from two businessmen who stepped forward this week. The story's HERE... but here's a key paragraph:

Well, now, I doubt seriously that Virginia is corruption-free, but we can’t hold a CANDLE to places like Illinois, New York and New Jersey. Not even CLOSE!
The biggest state government scandal WE’VE had in recent years was some upper-level Game and Inland Fishereis guys going on African safaris and buying personal jet-skis, etc. with states funds. And those guys are BUSTED and GONE.
Sorta PALES in comparison, eh?

I’m amused that Illinoisans who were interviewed expressed “shock” and “disgust” at what’s happened w/ the governor.
In Illinois, the more corrupt you are, the more successful you are.

Yep. If Lisa Madigan was Lisa Grabowski she'd be a Public Defender handling cases in Traffic Court. Her 'big day' would be getting an acquittal for a client who was charged with a DUI. Or if a prosecutor, getting some Dead Beat Dad convicted for not paying Child Support.
