So is this new flick a remake or a sequel?

The new one is a remake of sorts.
Instead of “disarm or we will destroy you” it’s “stop killing the enviroment” I kid you not.
This according to those who have seen it on IMDb.
This is a Youku movie if I ever saw one.

So is this new flick a remake or a sequel? From what I've seen so far it's more of a 're-imagining' like the upcoming Star Trek movie is supposed to be.
