Condi kicks Bush to curb ** vanity **

Posted on 12/08/2008 4:09:31 PM PST by Mogwai

Condi was just on CNN with Wolf Blitzer. At the end of her response to his question of what she thought about Obama's election, she said "The American people are wise to want change. Two terms is enough." Wow, no one digs a horn into an embattled president's back like a rampaging RINO. How nasty and disloyal of her.

How good of Condi to try to pave the way for the most leftist POTUS in history......

I’d like to go back to Dec. 2000 and see how the Clintonistas and Gorebots welcomed and supported the new Bush/Cheney administration.

Oh, wait, on 2nd thought who wants to re-visit that nightmare!!??!!

Come to think of it, didn’t Albore declare to the Florida Supreme Court, “two terms is enough - time to welcome the Bush administration!”

Notionally of course she was addressing her own length of service, but the words “The American people are wise to want change. Two terms is plenty.” inevitably appears as an endorsement of Obama and slam against Bush. “Change” was after all O’s mantra. If she was just talking about her service fatigue and wanted to make that clear, she could have said “I need a change; I’ve served long enough.” Really, giving her the benefit of the doubt here is kinda like letting Kerry off the hook for his old “stuck in Iraq” remark.

Some people actively campaigned for her as VP.

Because she's black, female, was appointed to an important job, but for no other reason. She's never held an elected office.

Pandering is one of the things that has killed the GOP.

If your re-telling of Dr. Rices' comment is accurate, I agree with her sentiment.
I, however, do not see the comment as an endorsement of 0bama. It appears that that is your read on her statement.

Personally I favor a 6 year one-term U.S. Presidency; but that's just my opinion.

Thanks for the friendly greeting. When you’re new at FR and the welcome wagon comes rolling up, you know there will be those who greet you nicely, and those who want to run you over! Glad you’re one of the former. :-)

"What? Condi is no RINO???

As a matter of fact if that is what she said I tend to agree with her. The country is Bushed mainly because the wackoo’s on the left would not stand behind him when he needed the country to be together but hey...

In conjunction with post #29 putting Condi’s comments in context, I think your post is right on target – but, I’d argue there is more.

Bush is a socially conservative, fiscally liberal globalist. It is clearly due to the intervention of God that we've not suffered another attack, but one could argue that president Bush has worked tirelessly to protect this nation (perhaps to the point of compromising civil liberty). Yet he has authorized more new spending then the last 4 administrations combined, has cut nothing from the budget that I am aware of, and he is for open borders – that’s just for starters.

Change makes sense. Obammunism’s change will not be in the USA’s best interest.

I read Rice raving how wonderful Clinton is. It was sickening. We had stupid Madeline who was mistaken for a cleaning woman, Rice whose comments regarding Serbs were beyond stupid, and Hillary - somebody with no experience who ran a poor campaign and whose lies and facial expression reveal mental issues.

It may just be me, but I’ve noticed Condi has a little extra sparkle since O won the election. I truly think she approves.

“Really, giving her the benefit of the doubt here is kinda like letting Kerry off the hook for his old “stuck in Iraq” remark.”

At least with Kerry he could point to having told the joke previously in a different way. There’s no possible way to spin “the American people want change, two terms is enough” as a mis-speak. Especially since Condi is about 87 times smarter than that dork.

That said, I do think her comments here are not as harsh as the original poster made them sound. It doesn’t really seem as though she was speaking of Bush, but more saying “we had our turn, it’s time for the new guy. That’s the way it goes.” She could have articulated it better. At the same time, it’s entirely possible she meant it as originally presented. So the conclusion I have to come to is that this, whatever her intent, was an unwise and ill-thought out thing to say.

Only to those who wish to see it that way. Don't project your biases on others.

BTW, welcome to FR.

I agree that the original poster did make her comments seem much worse. My first thought was “Wait, doesn’t our Constitution say that two terms is enough and after that it’s time to get a new President?” I thought that perhaps she was referring to that. In any case, she could have said whatever exactly she was trying to say much more clearly than before.
