Poor doggy!
We’ve worked very hard to make sure our dogs aren’t overweight. It leads to SO many health problems for them and a lot of extra expense to keep them along the way. Overfeeding is EXPENSIVE and so are avoidable trips to the Vet through the years.
We all walk 2-4 miles each day, rain, shine or blizzard. We cut that back drastically in sub-zero weather, because it’s just STUPID to be out in that.
We play ball inside, and the way our house is set up, I can actually ‘walk’ the dogs inside, while we play ‘Keep Away’ with a favorite toy or treat. Around the open downstairs rooms, up and down the steps a number of times, etc.
It keeps me moving all winter long, too. :)
I pass by a ‘Doggy Daycare’ on my way to work each day. It never ceases to amaze me that the parking lot is always full and people are dropping pets off for ‘daycare.’ It just cracks me up. Why HAVE a pet if you don’t have the time for it?
And our cats? They’re a little fat; I admit that. They don’t like to go for walks, but I do feed them low-calorie food and they earn their keep, inside and out, on Mouse Patrol. (We live on a farm.)
Dang. That’s the biggest BC I’ve ever seen. In fact, I’ve never seen an obese BC.
