One addition, Robert Taylor, the famous movie star of the ‘40s, was in the service during WWII. He later gave speeches about being FORCED by his superiors in the service to do a movie which he considered communist.
If you want to read the truth about Sen. McCarthy and this period in history, I strongly urge you to obtain a copy of M. Stanton Evan’s book, “Blacklisted By History: The Untold Story of Senator Joe McCarthy and His Fight Against America’s Enemies” recently published in 2007.
It really does set the record straight and demolishes liberal/left demonology and mythology about the man and his times.
