My 1911 works just fine for now, arthur-itis and all (age 64).
To anyone considering this gadget, first try:
1/ Buying quality ammo that feeds well in your gun (so as to avoid malfunctions). For example, Berettas don’t seem to like Winchester white box but usually work fine on Remington green box.
2/ Cleaning your gun once in a while.
3/ Carrying around an O’Bamma “change” sign - nailed to a baseball bat. ;o)
There are designs for both “caseless ammunition” that use electrical igniters instead of a mechanical (ie, crushed) primer and an electrical primer in a conventional brass case:
