“Natural born citizen” does not necessarily have to do with geography. If one of your parents in an American citizen, you are also a citizen at birth even if mom happens to be traveling in Timbuktu when she delivers you. The birth record that American consular officials bestow on such children is called “Report of American Citizen Born Abroad.” It is clear that such people are citizens from birth.
