For what it’s worth, in south Alabama in the early 60’s, my high school was trying to do something exactly like this, except they were worried about the ‘Twist’!

You know, I grew up on all of the conventional wisdom displayed in Hollywood movies, books, theater, etc. that said that those people who objected to looser forms of dancing and music and tried to stop it were just prudish freaks, Puritan holdovers to be ridiculed. The concept of the prudish English teacher telling the kids to keep at least one Bible's width apart when they dance, claiming that the loose dancing would lead to other things was a common one.
But as we move solidly into the 21st century and we see the rampant immorality among, most of all, the kids of this country, I have to wonder if maybe those "prudes" weren't absolutely right. Maybe it is the Hollywood Left who has lied to us this whole time, demonizing the moralizers as inbred throwbacks. Maybe banning the Twist was a little extreme, but, as those prudes predicted, relaxing the stance on the Twist simply meant that the standard of morality could be pushed even lower, then the next standard of behavior could be ridiculed and then relaxed, and so on, to where we're at the point that kids actually simulate sex on the dance floor and girls make out with each other openly.
Given that MTV is one of the biggest purveyors of perversion in the world and is specifically targeted toward kids, maybe those warning about the dangers of "today's music", starting back in the early days of rock 'n roll, were right. New music targeted toward kids has been a direct conduit into young, impressionable brains whereby the immoral Left can pump all kinds of ridiculous ideas.
