JC, I had a wonderful visit,
But, after going through airport security and setting off the alarm, (even though I told them I had doctor’s proof that I have had a hip replacement) I was taken to another room: x-rayed (total body, front and back), felt-up (even private places), almost totally stripped, ‘wanded’ by (IMHO) a pervert, and my carry on was emptied (even tho it had been x-rayed previously), and everything was opened and examined, x-rayed again, scanned. My lipstick, mascara, toothpaste, moisturizer and hair spray were opened and checked for explosives - my wallet and all contents emptied and examined, even my hair brush put through a microscope.
I had tip money in my hand to give to the bellman, and was required to give up the money so it could be checked and held up to the light, to make sure there was no bomb in there.
The entire time, I ‘obeyed’ the commands of Security - never compaining or saying anything derogatory. It took four people almost an hour to ‘clear’ two ‘elderly ladies’.
It was a TOTAL humiliating experience, and I will not voluntarily choose to fly commercial again. Especially out of Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix.
Yorkie, I swear you have the worst time. I have flown a couple of years ago...no problem whatsoever! It was so easy. I cannot imagine why you had to go through so much! It was like something trying to keep you from going. Well, I am glad you are home safely, thats the main thing. Next time you fly, you probably will not have a speck of trouble. Did they not believe you about the hip replacement? Just amazes me to no end.
Oh no!
I’ve had two knee replacements. Does this mean that I will have the same humiliating experience if I fly again?
I keep hoping to get to Texas again. I have an aunt and an uncle that I would like to see again.
It is ridiculous what they put you through.
