My brother, who lives just north of you in NY, told me once that Giants players were forbidden by management to hang out in NYC, i.e. clubs, bars and nightlife. Know anything about this?
The Maras (along with the Rooneys) have always been one of the more responsible and respected owners, and they tend to shy away from problem athletes.
With that being said, when they DO wind up with one of those bad boys, they put them in "intensive care" so to speak and try and help them reach an even keel. The Giants were the first NFL team to give psychological tests to their draftees. Over the years there have been very few dirty players (late hitters and the like) on this team, and that was not an accident. The only one I can think of was Kenny Hill, a safety (out of Yale, no less) back in the '80s, and when I met him at a luncheon back then, I actually gave him some sh*t about it.

That’s nonsense. Jeremy Shockey did some of us best work in those places.
I vaguely remember he picked up both moma and daughter Gastineau at one.
