I agree with CCW, and I would have no problem with a responsible person taking their sidearm to a disco.

I also agree that we should wait for the complete story to come out before drawing conclusions.

However, this I know: if I were a betting man, and I am - the money goes on Plax acting like a jackass.

I already picked up Hixon from my league’s free agent pool. Thanks, FR!

If a disco is so dangerous people have to strap guns to themselves to enter then why did he go there at all !?

Cut him slack? Not if he`s that stupid.

Anyone fondling his gun in a nightclub,

I read the story. There was no mention of "fondling his gun".

Look, I'm very willing to believe that he did something stupid - which is a shame, because he seemed like a good guy at last year's Super Bowl. But I just want to wait for the facts to come out before drawing any conclusions.

Giants fan, season ticketholder checking in. I will be at the game in Maryland tomorrow aginst the 'Skins. I give this as background.

FWIW, I think I speak for a LOT of Giants fans when I say we are SICK of him. We are sick of him even though we KNOW that we would NOT have won the Super Bowl without him, but enough is definitely enough.

I have a good friend who is a Steeler fan and when Plax came to us he said "He's good, but he's trouble." No truer words ever spoken.

That’s a good point, sometimes though the second chance to make a comment doesn’t come around with a story.

Hasn’t there been an incident with a NFLer outside of a nightclub in recent years? It’s easy to be skeptical but I hope there is a good reason behind this incident. People go gunning for some of these stars. Maybe if some of us were in there position, we wouldn’t go to a nightclub. A nightclub; I mean that isn’t a good place to pack a pistol in that notoriously, violent events are associated with these kinds of bars.

What about legit security concerns to and from said disco? Come on, what are the reasons we support CCW?

This might not have happened if he had been coached by Barry Switzer or if he had been a Cowboy.

He shouldn't have done those extra dance moves man.

In the spirit of wacked-out, leftist magical thinking, I suggest we ban strange, made-up names like “Plaxico.” These names cause shootings.

If only Obama had been elected in 2004, guns would have been banned by now and Plexiglass wouldn’t have become a burden on our future socialized health care system.

Again, if the disco is in the seediest slimiest most dangerous part of town why even venture forth?

If I were making 7 million a year then the last place I`d be caught is in some shi***le disco in the most dangerous part of a city.

He`s an idiot.

Being able to run and catch a ball does not require much of an IQ or common sense.

I thought they tried that bodyguard thing in Dallas with the Pacman and the Pacman attacked the bodyguard.

My brother, who lives just north of you in NY, told me once that Giants players were forbidden by management to hang out in NYC, i.e. clubs, bars and nightlife. Know anything about this?

He was a regular choker back when he played for the Steelers, too.

2005: He goes to NY. Stillers win the SuperBowl. Coincidence? I THINK NOT.

Idiot. He's really shown the world what he's made of this season, hasn't he?

Glad he won't be on the field tomorrow.

I have been following the Giants for >45 years, and I've never heard that. Lawrence Taylor used to go to clubs...no big deal. I would not doubt your brother, but it's news to me.

The Maras (along with the Rooneys) have always been one of the more responsible and respected owners, and they tend to shy away from problem athletes.

With that being said, when they DO wind up with one of those bad boys, they put them in "intensive care" so to speak and try and help them reach an even keel. The Giants were the first NFL team to give psychological tests to their draftees. Over the years there have been very few dirty players (late hitters and the like) on this team, and that was not an accident. The only one I can think of was Kenny Hill, a safety (out of Yale, no less) back in the '80s, and when I met him at a luncheon back then, I actually gave him some sh*t about it.

Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg and spent the night in the hospital.

This just begs for answers to so many questions. First, why is he carrying a gun into a nightclub? Second, is he licensed to carry a handgun? Third, how did the accident happen? Did he just decide it would be a good idea to shoot himself in the leg, or was he drawing the weapon because of some perceived threat? If "details weren't available", why weren't they? Surely there were eye witnesses that could have shed some light on these questions. Man...talk about sloppy reporting.
