Mr. Obama, enjoy the media adulation while you can

Mr. Obama, enjoy the media adulation while you can Commentary: President-elect should remember that what goes up, must come down

I'm starting to feel a little guilty about the media's treatment of President-elect Barack Obama -- and I may not be the only one.

Chalk it up to a phenomenon I'd like to call "Obama-remorse." You know how you feel buyer's remorse after you've spent a lot of dough on some big-ticket item, only to realize that you might have made a mistake? Well, it's going to happen to the president-elect as well.

Perhaps this sort of recognition prompted Washington Post media writer Howard Kurtz to do an incisive piece called "A Giddy Sense of Boosterism" on Nov. 17. As Kurtz noted, the media have tripped over themselves to celebrate and cash in on Obama's victory.

I highly doubt it. They invested too much in him to get him elected. They will make excuses for him no matter what he does.

"media start picking apart his cabinet choices"

Ha,ha, Friedman, good one. First the media has to disengage itself from the gigantic, vacuum-powered suction attachment its lips have on The Great Spreader's gluteus maximus. What a joke, the media will never apply the same standards of criticism to Obama that it did to Bush or Reagan.

"Bush policies"

The inner Obama is yearning to break free from the shackles of reality. He knows that most of what Bush did was correct, but the inner Marxist desperately wants to change everything to satisfy his nutty, leftist acolytes as well as his own similar urges. I still fear the worst. He's a far-left ideologue trying to appear moderate. How long can the facade last?

"dump on him"

I've yet to read an article from a liberal rag or source declaring Carter a disaster. They might feel it, but they won't say it. They did say they thought Nixon was the worst president of the last century, and they pronounced BushII as right behind him. No matter how bad Obama screws up, he'll be covered by the assorted, liberal a..-kissers in the media.
