The KU vs. MU game is a long bitter rivalry.
It started when the border war across their common border was still within the memory of those living and has keep some of that spirit of bitterness.
The last regular season game is permanently scheduled as this match and has always produced unexpected results. Whichever team has the best record or rating (most often in recent decades, Missouri) better watch out as they often lose.
I expect a great battle again this year.
“USC (I am a proud alum!!!) is hardly Hollywood since its located in the big, fat, middle of gang territory. And who cares where UCLA is?”
USC=University of Spoiled Children
Back in the glory days of Florida-Miami (Florida Flop, ornage fights, etc) the trophy was a Seminole Indian canoe that had been made by the Seminole tribe several decades ago.
My favorite is the FSU/Miami game. It is always a thunderous game. The teams fight light gladiators with mutual respect. The FSU/Florida rivalry is fueled by many years of dislike.
Never witnessed it first hand but I’ve heard some pretty wild stories about Colorado vs. Colorado State. One involved tear gas.
If your grades had been higher you would have known that it is in Westwood. So instead you had to go to the University of Second Choice. ;-)
Two words:
13-9
Yeah, like I didn’t know UCLA is in Westwood...I said “Who cares” where it is. Obvisouly, you just follow the Bruin Gay Parade up Westwood Blvd and you’re there.
Not listening.
2) California Berkley vs Stanford: The peace-niks vs the tree huggers (or the other way around). This shows that even leftist wackos enjoy college football.
I’d frame this one as “the country-clubbers vs the peaceniks”, or maybe better “the tree-huggers vs the trees” (the unofficial Stanford mascot).
Rebuilding, yes. I would also agree about Mustain. It didn’t bother me that Nutt left. I think he had pretty much run his course here in Arkansas as far as coaching and had his eye on the AD’s job knowing that Frank Broyles was about to retire. He didn’t get it, and I think he realized it was time to move on.
I thought the day this game is played was a State holiday.
Go Tigers!
Nope - they're catered.
My friend you have nailed the competition between the Coloradians and the real people of Nebraska. We not only don’t like the Buff fans because they don’t understand what “Rivalry” means but also they are just so Bush in all phases of the game that true fans will simply pay them no heed!!!
Go Big Red We are on the way back to the top level with Bo.
I’ve never understood the appeal of semi-pro (some call it “college”) football.
Back when there was a Southwest Conference, Arkansas vs Texas was a great rivalry.
You might want to mix in a little Texas vs. Texas A&M.
