Turkey farm standups are a traditional part of the TV “news” this time of year, and sometimes bad things happen in the background because somebody wasn’t paying attention. There weren’t any headless corpses running around, not a big deal.

Stupid libs. Gruesome is D-day, Bataan, Iwo Jima, Fallujah and on and on and on. Turkeys are dispatched with speed and compassion. I remember as a kid when it was chicken and turkey slaughter time. Grandpa would lay them on a stump and whack the heads off and let them run loose to bleed out. Much more efficient today but nowhere near the entertainment value.

No you miss the point. It is part of how food gets to the table not how it leaves the body. Grow up.

“Showing them being killed also was stupid. People would obviously complain”
Why cover up the terrible truth about turkeys? People have to find out some day.

No, the point is that Palin had no idea what was happening but both the reporter and cameraman did. It was another media created controversy. How stupid do you think she is?
She knew, and she was asked if she was SURE she wanted to shoot that way, by the cameraman... and she got what she wanted.
To: McGruff
Hey, Sarah PARDONED one of those turkeys. That’s tradition.
Alaskans ate the rest. That’s tradition too. I haven’t heard about the turkey alternative on the tables. Did a hog get pardoned too? Were any veggies pardoned for the wimps dinners?

Did you watch it, or are you relying on reports from people who did watch it? Just saying...

BS on your part. If you get caught with your pants down, you say Excuse ME! and close the door. BFD! Where the hell do people think meat comes from? Let me say this again (and as a city guy who ISN’T a metrosexual wuss), people better wake up. 3% of the people make the food for the other 97% of us. Better treat them with some respect or starve.

Oh no, let's keep it a secret! Good grief. Everybody knows animals are killed for their meat. And should you say well fine then, what's your problem, I'd say I'm just a hopeless nutty person that is beyond help. I am all for the little ankle biters, too, but not my cup of tea to watch fluid, a baby, and placenta slide out of the birth canal. Should you ask, yes I have slaughtered many animals or held them down while someone else did. Not lately but in the first half of my life. You know I never thought of this before but even back then I don't think I would have thought it was ok for tv. Hey, all this talk and I myself never did see the the Palin turkey video. I am assuming the camera person was focused on her and the foreground and did not notice the background action like a blooper. Or do you think it was on purpose in an attempt to be funny and/or bring criticism on her?
To: webheart
No, I did not. I just wrote that in a previous reply. I did not catch it on tv and my computer won't let me watch You Tubes unless they are transplanted on a site. I can't explain it. But like I can watch the roomba riding cat on Cute Overload but not on the You Tube site itself. But it's ok that I haven't seen it. That way I won't get stymied down with facts.

I think its a case of squeemish metrosexuals in NY and CA whining.

Yeah, me too. I’ve been reading on forums about all these dweebs mad because their parents or grandmother won’t make them a special-wechial vegetarian Thanksgiving. This one person is just delighted though because the the stuffing is meatless. I hate to break it to them but I’m sure it contains turkey broth. I think if I went vegetarian I’d go and eat around the edges what I could and not talk about it. I get the drift that being vegetarian or gosh forbid, vegan - is largely about getting attention. A lot of people eat carefully. You can eat a meal with a diabetic and they don’t make it a ticker tape parade.

You’re comparing food preparation to excretory functions?? That’s really weird.

Palin was set up by the camera crew. They positioned her so that the worker would be over her shoulder.
