I think when an artist signs a contract to work for a movie or put out an album their number one priority is to sell their product. If someone wants to be a true artisit, they don't work for the money, just for the joy of the endeavor. Aren't any real artists in hollywood, never have been. If they claim to be they're just hypocrites.

That definition would exclude Shakespeare, Mozart, Dickens and a raft of others. There's been a ton of great Art that's come out of Hollywood over the last 90 years or so.
