Did the folks at the Detroit radio station actually call Kenya or call the Kenyan embassy in Washington? If one of them hinted that they were calling Kenya, perhaps he/she was wrong. The anwering machine message, if that's any clue, sounded like it was geared to American callers. I got the impression that the ambassador was speaking from the Kenyan embassy in the US - most likely in DC or in the DC metro area.

This impression was strengthened by their apparent sequential call to a hotel in Kenya. Non sequiter perhaps but bolsters the original sense of things.

My husband became a little suspicious because IF they were calling Kenya, then he didn't think it could be the embassy. He said that would be like us calling the American Embassy here in the U.S. There isn't one. The other weird thing was if you listened to the whole segment you heard at the end they we're supposed to be talking to some employee in a hotel in Kenya. Bottom line is if there's no Kenyan Embassy IN Kenya, and the calls ends with talking with a hotel in Kenya---then something doesn't add up.
