If the SCOTUS can fall for an “argument” as you described, there is no longer any legal system at all in the US!!!

I don't think the SCOTUS would "fall" for the argument, I think they would fear the civil backlash of ruling Obama ineligible. I think they would try to find some way of legitimizing him under the guise of "protecting our democracy" or "protecting our way of government" or some such cover for looking the other way.

They don't want to be the people who denied the first black man the presidency, even if he should have been disqualified before it got this far.
