Do you recall the trepidation with which we regarded our astronauts the first time they went behind the moon?

It was called LOS, for loss-of-signal, and for the first time in history, another heavenly body came between a band of intrepid explorers and their home planet. They were cut off from all mankind.

A small step, indeed.
