I saw the first showing today. About 50 people. Some marines and a sprinkling of old folks. Some senior women without men, probably looking at Craig.
Posting to see if people want to chat.
Thanx for stopping by.
I was in high school in the early 60s. A friend of mind gave me the hard cover of Dr. No or one of the one’s which was a book-of-the-month choice. After that I read all of them, including the ones be John Gardner. Haven’t tracked them since he stopped.
Thanx. Big bucks!

One up on 007
Good, I’m glad you read the books. I have a couple of good James Bond gifs that I made on a webpage;

Lol, that’s funny - and dangerous!!
I thought JB liked his ‘shaken, not stirred’?
fun stuff
Wasn’t there a Colonel Sun book that Fleming did as a short story or started as his last book. They used to run excerps in Playboy in the 60s. And yes, I did read the stories. Got some good grade reviewing authors in Playboy. First time I ran into WF Buckley.

Well, as a woman, I didn’t read Playboy, lol. I also didn’t read and of Flemmings later short stories.
Let's buy the rights to Colonol Sun and make our own movie. I suggest Clive Owen.
This is the kind iof thing wikipedia is good at. I don’t know why they have to have a political slant. It’s generally a great concept.
Saw it today. Lots of action not enough story and it was confusing to boot. Bad guy wasn’t very bad looking at all, kind of a foreign nerd. Not as good as Casino.
agreed. I see that the box office is hot so far. We’ll see what it does next weekend.

Good post potlatch!
It is my feeling that Craig is the best Bond since Connery. This one is a bit dark, but is basically part two of Casino Royale..the beginning of the Bond series.
One problem I have had with these last two (since they are supposed to be at the beginning of the Bond saga) is that Judy Dench plays M. Not that I don’t like her in the role. I think she is awesome. But when she took over as M several movies back the part was played as if she were taking over as M from the previous male M. I believe they should have used a male to fit more with that sequence.
I thought it was sacrilege that there was no scene with Q.
I also felt that they made the USA, with the exception of Felix, to be an evil government. Did not appreciate that.
Shorter than some Bond movies, it was very entertaining and certainly shaken, not stirred.
