I saw the first showing today. About 50 people. Some marines and a sprinkling of old folks. Some senior women without men, probably looking at Craig.

Posting to see if people want to chat.

Michael Medved thought that QUANTUM was too politically correct...He thought that US govt was not portrayed as a “good guy”. I do have to agree with him somewhat...

CIA section chief tells Felix Leiter, a friend of 007, that sometimes U.S. has to work with “unsavory” characters like Dominic Greene, the adversary of 007.

I do agree...Sometimes US has to deal with some people of dubious character...US cannot insist on dealing only with people who are 100% perfect...

Dominic Greene, the main villain, is interested in making a lot of money...He uses enviromentalism as a cover...I think that some enviromental wackos may not like QUANTUM...

I think CASINO ROYALE was better...However, QUANTUM was a fine movie. I could think of Bond films worse than QUANTUM: A VIEW TO A KILL, A MAN WITH A GOLD GUN.

I do wish that next Bond film would stick with some traditions. The gun-barrel sequence should always be at the beginning. Bond should say, “Bond...James Bond”. Bring back Miss Moneypenny...

Music was not too bad...

I think I will probably watch QUANTUM again when it comes out on DVD.

THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS (1987) is one of my favorite Bond films...

LIVE AND LET DIE...Roger Moore’s first Bond film...
It is not one of my favorites...There are some scenes which make me cringe...The sheriff...How Bond deals with Mr. Big at the end...

THE SPY WHO LOVED ME is my favorite Moore Bond entry...

Speaking of Australia...George Lazenby, an Aussie, played Bond in ON HER MAJESTY’S SECRET SERVICE...It was a good film. Bond did get married in the film.

He keeps his shirt on in this one but he wears a lot of tight white pants. I rather liked him until all the Freeper ladies said he reminded them of Putin and that killed off his attraction for me! :(

Liked the movie, loved the two lines in Swiss in there (sure I was the only person in my theater to understand them), loved Judi Dench, and now I shall have to see the first one in this line (Casino Royale). Never saw that one.

The chase scene at the beginning was sadly not up to the marvelous standards of a Bond film: it was not even by the wildest stretch possible to get past the barely two-lane mountain highway with nearly stopped traffic in each direction, but Bond and his pursuers were racing around cars at top speed. Creative film editing, but I prefer creative chase stunts.

Bond only sleeps with one woman in this one, and not the one he probably wanted.

The only Americans in this film (except for the black guy of course) were evil and corrupt.

For My Eyes Only-the story of a man who hides his birth certificate and Bond is sent to get it.

Bond is sent to Waikiki where he is to scope out the only known copy of the certificate just before the American election. Sadly the elderly woman holding it suddenly dies the day before he arrives. It's off to Kenya where beautiful African maidens help him discover the truth about the secret birthplace in the jungle...

Vlad should be so lucky. (But you are right, there is some resemblance -- maybe he's the lesser-hot brother...)
