This is the problem when government policy is predicated on an assumption of continual economic growth. Instead of letting the market work and allowing prices to adjust as market participants adjust, the government intervenes.
But the economy must always grow. How else are all of the goodies promised to the public going to be paid? Well, the government can always print money, but at some point inflation and interest rates will start to creep up.
At the end of the day, it may be fashionable to blame the politicians, but it’s the people in whom the fault lies. You wanted something for nothing. You believed you could get something for nothing. And in the end, you will be left with nothing.
Americans by and large like to celebrate our work ethic, our strength. But time and time again we are content to push the easy button at the polls.
“At the end of the day, it may be fashionable to blame the politicians, but its the people in whom the fault lies.”
Absolutely. A man like Obama shouldn’t have been able to be elected mayor. Americans asked for this Marxist, and they are going to get him.
We have squandered our legacy and the memory of the great men and women who founded and preserved this union.
