It’s not like it would matter in America. The ALA (American Library Ass.) promotes giving access to ALL library materials to anyone (no concept of “age appropriate materials”) and they don’t “censor” so they won’t refuse to stock materials that are not acceptable to the whole family.

This may be true....but when my mother was a librarian she took pains to be sure that the internet was used appropriately. In her particular case, the library's PCs were located next to the children's section. When various assorted pervs came in and tried to look at porn on them, she made sure that they stopped. Shame is a good thing.
And....we're not talking about looking at nude Renaissance paintings. We're talking hardcore porn, here. Some people have no sense (or decorum) whatsoever.
Over the course of a dozen years or so, she only had one patron get mouthy. And fortunately, the local police chief was in the library at the time. "Uh-huh. So, sir, Where in the constitution does it say you can sit in the children's section and look at porn?" I'd have loved to have been a fly on the wall for that conversation. :-)
