Let's look at Palin's White House chances by examining the results of those who sought the Vice Presidency and lost.

This does not included those who were Vice President and lost at re-election

1904: Sen Henry Gassaway Davis - WV, Dem, Never heard from again

1908: Sen John Worth Kern - IN, Dem - Died 9 years latter

1912: Gov Hiram Warren Johnson - CA, Progessive - Elected to the US Senate until 1945

1916: Sen Charles Warren Fairbanks - IN, Republican - Died in 1918.

1920: Gov Franklin D Roosevelt - NY, Democrat - Elected President 1932

1924: Gov Charles Wayland Bryan - NE, Democrat - Return to Lincoln

1928: Sen Joseph Taylor Robinson - AR, Democrat - Return to Senate

1936: Frank Knox - MA, Republican - Became FDR's Navy Secretary

1940: Sen Charles Linza McNary - OR, Republican - Returned to Senate

1944: Gov John William Bricker - OH, Republican - Became a US Senator.

1948: Gov Earl Warren - CA, Republican - Return to Sacramento, the rest is history (didn't do enough to redistribute income).

Gov Fielding Wright - MS, Dixicrat - Returned to Jackson.

1952: Sen John Sparkman - AL, Democrat - Returned to the US Senate

1956: Sen Estes Kefauver - TN, Democrat - Returned to the US Senate

1960: Amb Henry Cabot Lodge, Jr.- MA, Republican - Returned to Diplomatic corp.

1964: William Miller - NY, Republican - Disappeared. Claim to fame, made an American Express commercial and spawned a she-bitch by the name of Stephanie Miller.

1968: Sen Ed Muskie - ME, Democratic - Ran for President in 1972, degraded himself further by becoming Carter's Sec of State in 1980.

Curtis Lemay - CA, American Independent Party - Disappeared.

1972: Sargent Shriver - Md, Democrat - Ran for President in 1976.

1976: Sen Robert Dole - KS, Republican - Returned to Senate, Ran for President in 1980, 1988, and got the GOP nomination in 1996 only to make McCain's run in 2008 look good.

1984: Rep Geraldine Ferraro - NY, Democrat - Left the House,

1988: Sen Lloyd Benten - TX, Democrat - Returned to Senate, later degraded himself in the Clinton Administration.

1992: Vice Admiral James Bond Stockdale - MD, Reform Party - "Who am I? Why am I here?" Made the word Gridlock famous.

1996: Jack Kemp - NY, Republican - Private citizen, frequent media guest.

2000: Sen Joe Liberman - CN, Democrat - Returned to Senate.

2004: John Edwards - NC, Democrat - Returned to North Carolina, ran for President in 2007. Cheated on his wife.

The road to the White House rarely pans out for any specific candidate. A decent historian could probably name at least 1,000 people off the top of their head who were at one time or another considered to be a serious contender for the Presidency. At any given time, you could consider half the governors, dozens of Senators & Congress Critters, a dozen or so Mayors, and a handful of business leaders / celebrities / public figures.

Sarah Palin might not even want to run for president. She has a pretty sweet deal in Alaska. She'll always be a folk hero up there. In the meantime, she's on the list of contenders.

A big beef about Sarah was that she didn't have enough experience. 4 years from now, she'll have more experience. 8 years from now, she'll have even more than that.

Statistics are what statistics are, nothing is full proof.

I offer — There has never been another half white half black President, throughout history, either.

But when they made Sarah Palin they broke the mold she will make a strong comeback in 2012. I agree let us look for a leader of the republican leadership so we can win in 2010! New Contract with America!

We need to defend Palin everywhere, as this ploy is coming from Obama campaign...and has infiltrated the McCain camp..as the FEAR OF A PALIN RUN IN 2012 is already mounting ...Remember the Obama mystery will be solved, and they may be crying out for a real change by then...lol.

History doesn’t matter. At this point , the game has changed. We have a Communist for a president and a woman who ran for VP. If Sarah wants it, knowing how vicious it will be, not only from the Democrats, but from her own party, she will get it. The party just lopped 30 years off it’s age and it’s time change the face of the Republican Party. The old guard must go.

2010 - 15 senate seats, 56 house seats
2012 - presidency, 2 more senate seats and 15 more house seats

Or this discussion is moot because the end is nigh.

However, history was on the democrats’ side this year. The truly open elections of 1920 and 1952 were won by the party out of power.

Yep, first things first. We need Boehner out.

If for NO other reason at all, it’s just not right to have a guy named Boner in as or leader. I don’t care if he pronounces it Bayner. That ain’t how it’s spelled!

He’s been ineffectual as a leader and was a pusher of the bailout sham. He should be tossed out on his behind.

True, I did back Fred. I didn’t back McCain until he got the nomination.

I love her but I do think she’s potentially much more viable in 2016 than 2012.

I think you are making too much of counting algorithms. Sort of like what happens with hurricanes. Outside forces effect elections, and hurricanes, not statistics.

When Obamunism chokes America, then America’s first principles, freedom, liberty and self-reliance, will return with a vengeance, regardless who is running for President, as long as they espouse those first principles and mean it. Just my hunch.
