“he is more deserving of our prayers than our derision.”

My prayers are for this country. Obama’s success as a president may or may not be good for this country. It depends on how you define success, I guess. If he tries to fulfill all his fairy godfather promises, he will surely ruin this nation’s economy for decades to come. If he succeeds in placing his choices for Supreme Court, he will ruin this nation for generations to come. If he succeeds in running foreign policy as he has indicates he wishes, he will embolden our enemies and cost lives of Americans here and abroad, in or out of uniform.

But I do acknowledge that he has been elected president and, in the absence of evidence of massive fraud, I will honor that decision of the electorate. I will tolerate an Obama presidency. Whether or not President Obama gets any respect from me is a matter of his earning it and his juvenile flipping off of opponents in public forums has given him a steep hill to climb to get any respect from me.

My prayers are for this country.

I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior ... 1 Timothy 2:1-3
