Alternate Universe:
"Don't blame me, I voted for McCain." Yes, if Fred had been nominated he wouldn't have done any better, and McCain voters would be saying that he was the only one who could have won.
Fred couldn't even fully convince himself that he really wanted the office, so how much better would he have been at winning over swing voters?

I voted for Fred — favorite son in TN — as well. My second choice was Rudy. Rudy was in the beauty contest but he didn’t have any delegates running, at least in my part of TN.

I don't blame you, but I do blame Fred. There's no excuse for the lame effort he made. He was my favorite going in, but was long gone before FL. His convention speech gave the best short answer I've heard to the tax-the-rich canard:
"They tell you they are not going to tax your family. No, they're just going to tax "businesses"! So unless you buy something from a "business", like groceries or clothes or gasoline ... or unless you get a paycheck from a big or a small "business", don't worry ... it's not going to affect you.
They say they are not going to take any water out of your side of the bucket, just the "other" side of the bucket! That's their idea of tax reform."
He could have won on the economy. McCain never made the case. I don't know if he would have picked Palin or not; he needed less shoring up with the base; but it would have been a good combo, IMO. Oh well.

I voted for Hunter, but I voted for Sarah in the general. There is not way I would have voted McCain without Sarah. They can post whatever rumors they want about her now but she is worth any 10 of the worthless RINO republicans.

I would've, but he had dropped out already.
Politico's fault.
