GROUNDHOG DAY Diary, Day 1
11-5-08 | patriciaruth

Posted on 11/05/2008 4:50:33 AM PST by patriciaruth

Welcome to the first Groundhog Day of a total of 1462 more to go before we can wake up to a new day.

Yes, for the next 1462 days when we wake up, Obama will still be President-elect or President.

We have slipped into a time loop alternate universe and probably the best way of coping is to use this time wisely.

Over the next four years, you can

1. make significant progress in mastering a subject or an art or a skill or a trade or do two or several.

2. get your body in much better shape so we can outlive the libs

3. build or improve loving relationships with friends, family, or spouse

4. ingrain habits of cleanliness and neatness

5. ingrain habits of kindness and civility

6. grow closer to God, pray regularly, read the Bible regularly, go to church regularly

7. take a charity to your heart and become personally involved

8. join with others to educate a target group in your local community, State, or nationwide about why wisely regulated capitalism works and socialism/communism doesn't work. Start or join efforts at voter registration, candidate recruitment, and voter turnout.

9. make a point of doing some fun things regularly, too, and keeping a balance with joy in your life.

10. Get some more good ideas from others

My own first Groundhog Day will be spent deciding how I am going to enrich my life and live with peace of mind in spite of living in an alternate universe.

I'm thinking about taking up sculpting, learning a lot more history, doing either calisthenics or aerobic exercise daily, seeing more of my Christian friends by making a point of asking them to dinner or on day trips, ordering a new KJV Bible as my old one has fallen to pieces and reading every night before bed; dropping a couple charities and personally helping, not just contributing, to a favorite one; checking out which organizations help support Young Republican or other conservative clubs on campuses and find out what I can do to help; garden more regularly and watch my favorite TV shows (either live or by ordering the season on DVD's) and get outside for exploratory nature trips.

What are your dear Groundhog Day diary thoughts for the day?

“total of 1462 more to go before we can wake up to a new day”

When we wake up it will be a different country.

I was trying to post a link to my PROJECT PHOENIX thread, but find that I am shuttled to a site where says the Freerepublic.com site is for sale.

What is that all about?

Good suggestion. I mean to do that, too. The skill I want to master.

I love this, thank you. Scanning the vanity posts on FR this morning I am so grateful to see no one (that I’ve seen so far) has gone off the deep end. It’s onward and upward. “Onward, Christian soldiers! marching, as to war, with the cross of Jesus going on before.”

“...marching, as to war...” not against people but against wrong thoughts, ideologies, etc. “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers...against spiritual wickedness in high places.” (Paul, I think)

Definitely stay off the internet for awhile and spend more time with the family. Definitely read the Bible more. The all above suggestions are great.

Life’s too short to remain bitter about this fiasco. Time to enjoy what I can.

Thanks, guys.

Lets start by being real about our candidate;
McCain is a RINO. He isn’t conservative. He sold us short and conservative principles short in order for short term gain. As a result, we lost and we must learn from it and look at what did work in the example of Reagan. Palin was more qualified in these areas.

Some of my muscle groups (upper and lower body) are damaged by a type of mitochondrial myopathy, but I like your suggestion of doing not just limbering/stretching but also some resistive (weightlifting) type exercises.

I have a few items — ankle weights, small dumbbells, and stretching cords. Can you recommend a cheap book (for starting out a weak woman) or send me a pamphlet to get started?

GROUNDHOG DAY dairy, Day 2 about to start.

Today (Day 1) I ordered a book on anatomy of weightlifting with exerices for women. I did a few minor stretching calisthenics. We also went and got our flu shots.

Read a good article on Iran from Imprimis newsletter, and a good article on where our energy comes from and who actually are the players in “BIG OIL”, sent to me by my Congress critter. Thinking about doing abstracts on a number of topics and passing them out at WalMart locally, or emailing to others who want to be involved in educating other who don’t have the time to do the research.

Decided to look into colonial history as a subject to master over the next four years, with emphasis on survival in new environments. Ordered a pictorial tour book on the subject, and think maybe we’ll go poke around in some old historic sites and museums, while trying to find out who knows what on the subject, and what records are available where.

Going to get a new Bible now at Amazon, and shop tomorrow for a few more items, cans of fruit probably, going into my next soldier care packages.

Also ordered Adsubtract program to help me better control the intrusions onto this computer.

So ended Day 1 of my time in the Obama alternate universe.

Praying for our soldiers in harm’s way.

Maybe "The Twighlight Zone" would be a better name for it.
