This gives a whole new meaning to landing on (a) wing and a whole lot of prayer......

If it were real, the wing peeling off would have been followed by rapid fuel loss and a likely fireball as the wing-tank was ruptured. The wing also peels off at a not particularly dynamic point in the flight.

Even as an R/C plane, this craft was obviously constructed to have the wing fall off. I’ve flown R/C craft and have even suffered a main spar brake during aerobatic flight (due to fuel seepage weakening the joints). The wing folded, but did not detach, due to the fabric covering and bits of other wooden spars remaining attached. The plane made a nice parabolic dive into the ground, spiraling the entire way in. Nice to be on the ground in a situation like this!

Its possible. It wouldn’t be the first plane to land with one wing.

Many of these aircraft can actually hover on their prop. If you can do that and manage to get your nose up then you can drag a wing (converting it into a giant vertical stabilizer) to counter act the torque. The fuselage would then provide a certain amount of lift.

Very tricky, but doable in the right airplane.

It looks real to me.

I can explain why on several aspects.

One big clue is when the video stops. If this were real then the reactions of the pilot and the people running to him would be as exciting footage as the landing.

Heheheheh It’s fake.

This is perhaps the 3rd or 4th video I’ve seen of a 3D R/C aircraft have the wing fail yet land with little to no damage. This video just has some good editing with a real Red Bull aircraft.

I’ve had a wing come loose in flight, not fall all the way off and I landed safe. I’ve had a midair collision with another RC and landed with the wing held on with a rubber band. It’s exhilerating.

The large scale 3D style RC’s have lots of control surface movement and it’s amazing what they can do. What is shown in the video is a knife-edge manuever with one wing. The RC’s have plenty of power to pull it off buy a real Extra 300 would not be so lucky.

Intertaining video, but it’s fake. Here is one of the first “wing missing” landings in RC land

Yeah, I sent you the ping right after I saw the video, then I read the posts, so I kind of figured it was.
Oh, well....thanks for the link.
