I am a Reagan Conservative. I came of age in my political thought during Reagans rise and was inspired by his faith in people and the love of our Country. I think it was Reagan who said, If people have a choice between a Democrat and a Democrat, they will always choose the Democrat. What I always took this to mean is People will always chose the candidate who held strong beliefs in core political values over the middle of the road candidate.
The choice in this election is between a Democrat and a democrat (little d intentional). It is October 28, 2008 and I do not yet know for whom I will vote. I am as mad as hell.
Obama is a Democrat to the core. He unabashedly promotes their cause. McCain is at best a moderate Democrat who calls himself a Republican. Other than security issues, McCain has shown repeatedly, he is willing to change his vote, if not his views, to appease the other side.
I believe that this nation has lost its way. Led by business people without a sense of obligation to do anything for country. People once built a business in hopes of making a product that would provide a profit and in turn profit the community and country as well. In the past corporations such as NCR, GE or GM would never have considered conducting business in a manner destructive to the community to which they belonged or the country they lived. Could you ever imagine GE doing business with any country that was considered an enemy during any previous war? That has changed. Today corporations such as GE only exist to make a buck and everything is on the table if the bottom line is improved. That is why we had companies like GE helping Iran with their nuclear program and investors betting on the failure of the housing market while setting up its ultimate failure only to make obscene amounts of money. All in the name of enriching them and the Corporations they serve but at the expense of country and honor. Factory and Auto Jobs gone to Mexico and China, but the crash and failure of those corporations is to be paid for by our taxes to now bail them out. Where is obligation and morality?
Obama or McCain will not influence in any way the path we follow with regard to moral issues. No matter what the law is. People will or will not seek out an abortion based on their own moral compass. Issues such as abortion and same sex marriage are changed in the heart of people based on their relationship with their God. Institutions and their allowances or mandates only reflect the hearts of the masses they serve. Institutions will only change when the desires of the people are influenced by personal morality. We should not waste or efforts fighting laws that allow people to make the wrong moral choice for no law will ever stop that, but rather we should demand the removal of laws that prevent or punish us for doing the right thing.
This Nations attitude concerning these moral issues are not the result of bad Government, rather the moderation of ones own beliefs to make our lives more convenient, which are then, supported by our Churches. A Church that does not rail against followers who openly support matters completely contrary to what is right and wrong or against the doctrine of their church is not a church but a weekend support group.
My dilemma. To vote for a Democrat or an in name only Republican that may crush any hope of Reagan conservatism returning.

Welcome to FR.
Must vote McCain. Get him across the finish line. If the Conservatives lead him to a victory, he cannot ignore us. We will not always agree with him, but he will put his country first.
Here kitty kitty kitty
Maybe you could write in Reagan and hope he wins.
We have a choice between bigger government and even bigger government. If Obama wasn’t so scary, I’d be staying home on election day. As it is, I have to vote for McCain, only because Obama has to be stopped. I don’t have any faith that McCain will even slow the growth of government, let alone shrink it, but I suspect he will not accelerate its growth as much as Obama will.
I don’t think he will attribute his victory to his getting conservatives on board. He’s been aiming at the undecided voters from day one, all three of them. He’s too brain addled to realize how few of them there are, or how many conservatives there are.
Some see this as a watershed election. I see it as more of a waterfall election. Either boat will take us down. One faster than the other.
And you call yourself a Reagan Conservative? Fat chance.
The choice in this election is between a Democrat and a democrat (little d intentional). It is October 28, 2008 and I do not yet know for whom I will vote. I am as mad as hell.I'll take a Harry Truman styled Democrat over an ObamaAyers Marxist any day.
Obama is a Democrat to the core. No, he is a marxist, plain and simple. Old school democrats like my grandmother don't recognize what he is. He unabashedly promotes their cause. Yes he does, but their is now not just Democrats, but Soros/Ayers/Rezko/Raynes leftists, far off the deep end of what traditional democrats believe.McCain is at best a moderate Democrat who calls himself a Republican. Other than security issues, McCain has shown repeatedly, he is willing to change his vote, if not his views, to appease the other side.Funny, the talking points have changed, just a few months ago he was an inflexible, stubborn SOB.
I believe that this nation has lost its way...and yet, your solution, if you are lost, is to just hand it over to the left- smooth move Ex-Lax.Led by business people without a sense of obligation to do anything for country.Business' responsibility is to her shareholders. We as consumers and shareholders dictate their direction. People once built a business in hopes of making a product that would provide a profit and in turn profit the community and country as well. They still do In the past corporations such as NCR, GE or GM would never have considered conducting business in a manner destructive to the community to which they belonged or the country they lived. They don't, they follow the market. They provide far more to this country than you ever will. Could you ever imagine GE doing business with any country that was considered an enemy during any previous war? I guess with all your comments about Reagan, you forgot his quote that 'Countries that trade goods don't trade bullets. That has changed. No it hasn't Today corporations such as GE only exist to make a buck and everything is on the table if the bottom line is improved. Quick lesson for you, they are businesses, not charities. That is why we had companies like GE helping Iran with their nuclear program debunked myth, quit reading MoveOn. GE sold parts that it was legal to sell and are not part of a 'nuclear' program.and investors betting on the failure of the housing market while setting up its ultimate failure only to make obscene amounts of money. You really have no idea what you are talking about do you? All in the name of enriching them and the Corporations they serveBusiness or charity, which is it? but at the expense of country and honor.Another BS statement, when businesses prosper, the country prosper. The government is not a profit producing industry. Factory and Auto Jobs gone to Mexico and China, but the crash and failure of those corporations is to be paid for by our taxes to now bail them out. Where is obligation and morality? They go to China, Mexico etc, because of liberal policies like over regulation and high business taxes make it more realistic to take those jobs elsewhere. You pretty much just made the case for McCain over Obambi with this one little section.
Obama or McCain will not influence in any way the path we follow with regard to moral issues. The job is Commander in Chief of the US Armed Forces, not Pope. They do, however, select judges which influence legislative issues for decades. No matter what the law is. People will or will not seek out an abortion based on their own moral compass. Issues such as abortion and same sex marriage are changed in the heart of people based on their relationship with their God. If one chooses to murder a child, even if it is legal, God's view doesn't change. Institutions and their allowances or mandates only reflect the hearts of the masses they serve. Institutions will only change when the desires of the people are influenced by personal morality. Guess what, over 50% of people in this country oppose abortion, yet courts block or turn over most votes. We should not waste or efforts fighting laws that allow people to make the wrong moral choice for no law will ever stop that, but rather we should demand the removal of laws that prevent or punish us for doing the right thing.Abortion is far more than a moral choice, it is murder and slavery. It takes the life of a unique individual with unique DNA, not a tissue mass. It gives one person the right of ownership of the life of another person.
This Nations attitude concerning these moral issues are not the result of bad Government, rather the moderation of ones own beliefs to make our lives more convenient, which are then, supported by our Churches. A Church that does not rail against followers who openly support matters completely contrary to what is right and wrong or against the doctrine of their church is not a church but a weekend support group...and any of this has what to do with your original conflict on who to choose as President?
My dilemma. To vote for a Democrat or an in name only Republican that may crush any hope of Reagan conservatism returning. The choice is obvious for any real Conservative. To hand the keys over to a Marxist is suicide. McCain may not be perfect, but compared to the Obmessiah, the choice is obvious.
Oh yea, and don't give me any of this Chuckey "Truther" Baldwin, or Bob "ACLU" Barr crap if you are complaining about how left McCain is. Those nuts make McCain look like a saint.
Who does John “socalist/mortgage bailout” McCain play? Shemp?
What you said!
Sorry, but a Reagan conservative wouldn’t chance the future of the country OR the conservative movement by voting for a Marxist. No, McCain wasn’t my first choice, but I’ll vote for him and his supposed little “d” democrat before I’ll “chance it” and vote for a socialist who, with a majority in both houses, would bring utter ruin to this country and all it stands for.
Correction if you are voting for McCain, you are voting for a socialist. Heck, he even defended his vote for the trillion dollar bailouts yet again on Meet the Price last Sunday Anyone who voted for that is a socialist pure and simple.
BTW, if he hasn't already look for McCain to endorse the bailouts of the auto industry. I'd rather have an outright socialist in office than a socialsit who pretends to believe in the free market. The alleged defenders of the free market in the Republican leadership have done more in the last year to undermine support for free markets than all the Democrats combined.
my watch is slow, or this this troll 2 minutes late?
They are sooooo predictable now.
Notice how the trolls have common themes in their waves.
first it is palin is gone rouge, then romeny this or that, now it is “don’t vote”.
just zot him and be don with it.
no more feeding the trolls.
Every election cycle there is a group of either liberal trolls or whiners that try to split the base. The former is easy to identify, the latter is, my bet a group of folks who are actually rooting for a Marxist to win so they can say ‘see I told you so’ and play wild west.
Bull! No way do I vote for the Marxist over Palin. BTW, no way do many, many of the the white over 40 democrats who have never voted anything but democrat I know vote for the Marxist.
