Confrontations emerge at Palin event in NC October 26, 2008 18:08 EDT

ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) -- Supporters of Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama are confronting people attending a North Carolina event featuring Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin.

The faceoff in downtown Asheville included loud yelling and vulgar signs. The event showcased the tension between people who live in the liberal enclave and the others living in conservative counties that surround Asheville.

Authorities stood between the crowds, which included a couple of hundred Obama supporters and several thousand Palin supporters waiting to enter the event.

Both sides crowded the sidewalks of a downtown street, at times disrupting traffic as they spilled into the road to confront each other. Some heated arguments devolved into minor shoving.

From what I’ve seen of Obama’s “follower” types over the years, they mostly just burn, loot and destroy their own neighborhoods (and probably expect the government to rebuild it). - Back during the Rodney King debacle, a bunch of oriental guys had businesses in the neighborhoods where they were burning and looting. They got up on the roof of their businesses just simply holding a shotgun and nobody bothered them. - Let’s not get afeered and get out and vote. We voted last week. - Peace.

Granny should be so proud. /s

Grandmother of US Presidential candidate and US Senator Barrack Obama, Sarah Obama Onyango sits in her home in the Kogelo Community in western Kenya on February 4, 2008. As they wave machetes with gleaming blades, rioters in Kenya's sprawling slums say they have two things on their minds: protesting Kenya's presidential election and Barack Obama.

Well .. I’m not trying to spread fear .. but if you read the story about Obama’s cousin in Kenya and what happened when his cousin LOST his election. The attacks were so bad that the cousin forced the new govt to give him a place at the table.

Does this mean Obama helped “organize” such an event after a lost election .. and did he learn how to do the same here ..??

If you think it’s not possible here .. with the Obama bunch .. you’re fooling yourself.

Will it stop me from voting for McCain - NEVER!

And .. if the blowout is sufficient .. maybe you’ll be correct and it will be “a few pockets here and there”.

The county doesn't plan to open voting sites on Sundays for the rest of the early voting period(it was done only for the Obama rally), but will have polling places open the next two Saturdays as well as week days, according to a schedule on the state elections Web site.
