No, really, I laughed and laughed when I read that. Even now, I’m giggling.

I saw all of them, and they were good.

Takei had two great lines, one about his name and the other about if his partner sucked as well as Shatner’s career, he'd never leave his house.

Now that you say that, I do recall him playing something like that. However, I don’t believe that it was very long lasting.

After 40 years, the second tier actors need to get over themselves.

Yeah, I can't really disagree with you there. I think the fact that cast members like George Takei haven't reflects more of the emotional trauma Shatner inflicted than anything else. I've heard rumors that he could be extremely unkind on the set and had a lot of trouble dealing with the pressure of being the show's lead character.

Years ago, I worked a few films as an extra and got to see some Hollyweird egos up close and personal. Everyone on the set quickly learned which "name" they could try to talk to and which ones to avoid. One of my personal diappointments was Ben Gazzara who was an absolute jerk to EVERYONE on the set, including Lorne Green. I lost all respect for Gazzara after that.

Walter Koenig had a recurring star-turn in “Babylon 5” for several years, and gained a huge following among younger sf fans.

Thanks for sharing that, I didn't know that. Never got into Babylon 5 (which probably explains a lot!).

People have different tastes :-). Koenig had a great part and was a very charismatic presence in that show. In my opinion, actors of his generation, often with stage and live-tv experience, have more depth than many of the younger stars. “Oh, here’s whatsisname, playing a good-looking guy again. Snoooooze ...”

“Babylon 5” was not a “Star Trek” spinoff, but a terrifically original show with a totally different perspective. Just a minor point.

Overall I agree with you. Few of the other original “Star Trek” actors did much else in terms of TV series or unrelated movies. Didn’t have to, for one thing: they could make a living on the “Star Trek” phenom, which is actually pretty weird when you think about it.

And still being mad at Shatner after all these years is pretty immature, but then, actors often are immature, and gays almost always are.
