What pisses me off is the fact that some of the welfare recipient owners pocketed the cash instead of putting it into payrolll and player development. If the owners are going to put out a bad product then why should the fans come to the park? And, looking back on the Rays series, you know most of those fans were bandwagon jumpers. If they were to have show up every night ove the past few years team would have had more money to spend.
There are plenty of a-hole Sox, Yankee, Cub and Philly fans but they follow their teams through thick and thin.
I can verify that. I became close to one of the Ripken family members here in Maryland (through Little League Baseball) when Cal was still an active player. He relayed to me that Peter Angelos was taking multiples of eight figures in income out of the franchise, mostly from MLB corporate welfare payments.
