yup I saw first showing of first day of American Carol and
will be buying the DVD. Director David Zucker was on the
Howie Carr show a couple times and urged people to go out
and see it—don’t “just wait for the DVD”, and “see it the
first week or two” (or it may not stick around long!) When I
saw it in Danvers MA there were a couple dozen people for
a matinee show and people did laugh, but a couple callers
to the Carr show said they were _the only people in the
theater_ (I think one was in Ludlow MA, and another in
Brattleboro VT). But someone called from Concord NH and
said there was a fairly good crowd for the movie.

Did anyone notice that there weren't any previews? I was running late (since most conservatives are busy living their lives, as opposed to fantasizing about the latest celebrity hiccup), and missed the first few minutes of the movie! I take it no one in Hollywood wanted to be attached to it.

Since I'm not a fan of slapstick, it took awhile for me to warm up to the movie (I didn't see Naked Gun or Airplane, etc.), but I started to "get it", especially when the jokes just kept piling up, and I kept saying, "no, they didn't just do/say that!!" and almost cried I laughed so hard.
