As shelter is the largest single expense for most people, the ongoing "Financiapocalpyse" could see more people trading that Tudor for a four-door. As your guides through this challenging time, we've identified ten cars you'd be happy to call home until your 401k is worth more than the postage used to send you those depressing reports. These rides are comfortable, affordable and most importantly, you can probably sleep in it. With car sales dwindling, now may be the best time to invest those dwindling funds in a home on wheels.

The Nice looking but POS 1993 Lincoln Continental I briefly owned would house a family of about 15 Guatemalans quite nicely.

Until I got older, every car I owned had footprints on the ceiling. Who said the old clunkers had plenty of room? Unless one owned a econoline or a Volkswagon van, there was not a lot of room.

Find an old Toyota Chinook, built on a small truck frame, with a pop-up lid on all four sides. When I was a contract programmer I’d spend my six-month gig in one. Always was able to find a campground that had showers, so it was a great makeshift vehicle. Most landlords wouldn’t sign a six months lease, so this setup gave me a lot of flexibility.

A fisherman friend of mine had 2 of these years ago. They'd probably sell now with fuel so hihg and RV's so HUGE.

Hey, that is the color of my old Volkswagon ! I loved that car. No power but was great for four children and their friends. Those were the days....
