My dad was at Kadena, but up on Yontan Mtn. (my spelling may be off) rather than the tower. IIRC, he communicated mostly with B-29's departing for and returning from missions over Korea while they were outside the tower's control, but also with the fighters out of Naha that were on patrol over Okinawa (particularly the night fighters, as the radar in the F-82's was not all that powerful or reliable).
