I hate being wrong... but you are right.

I was thinking strictly about the Korea config’d models.

The F-86D was indeed an anti-Soviet bomber interceptor.

Fascinating. Using unguided rockets to kill bombers at 500yds with a computer-aided deflection shot.

The F-86D with 24 rockets was a mainstay of our air defense for awhile, but the King of the unguided rocket has to be th F-89D. It carried 104 rockets in two very large wingtip tanks. The ‘50s had a lot of interesting jet aircraft inovations.
