I am amazed that someone from a service that has done well at understanding the psychology of getting inside someone’s head to defeat him in air combat would scoff at a similar attempt to understand the effectiveness of a political message.

Au contraire - I think Obama’s folks have done pretty well at times getting inside McCain’s OODA loop.
