If you go throwing out a man’s socks you better be prepared to stay on top of the laundry situation. That’s why we horde these things, we don’t like to do laundry when we’re single, and we have a fear of being dependent on somebody else when we’re not. So we have lots of socks and lots of undies and can generally go at least a month without laundry being done.

Well - I’m a guy. And I can’t imagine, even back when I was single - a months worth of stinky socks! (A month of dirty dishes? Thats another story!) However, my son does have about 40 pairs of socks I bet. Although he probably only wears 5 or 6 pairs.

“Well what’s wrong with these?” (Too short, too long, too loose, too tight, too bumpy....)

Now I’m more like in the post with the variety of socks. Some white, some dark, but where it really adds up its the heavy wool, med wool, light wool, wool liners, poly liners, etc.! And with the wool socks - when they get worn out I cut the toes out, and make them into wrist/arm warmers (cut a little hole for the thumbs in the heal).
