Don't know why the torture angle is giving you vapors, Tennessee Bob, but it happened. As the Knoxville News reported on Feb. 15, 2008, when Tennessee gave notice of its intent to seek the death penalty in the Channon Christian-Chris Newsom murders: "The notice [of intention to seek death penalty] cites that both murders "involved torture or serious physical abuse beyond that necessary to produce death," and that Coleman "knowingly mutilated the body of Chris Newsome (sic) after death."

Did the media spare any details in the Brawley hoax (smeared with feces)? The Abner Louima police brutality case (plunger in the anus)? So why should we hide the gruesome details about the murders?
And just who are you worried about offending, the murderers? Oh sure, the murderers might say, we killed that girl and her boyfriend after raping them, but we didn't urinate on their bodies (as reported), cut off his genitals and her breast (as reported), or put Drano in her three orifices to cover our DNA (as reported)--and it's SICK and UNFAIR for you to say we did!
Cry me a river. Even on Free Republic, these poor dead kids can't catch a break. Their story is "Chat," and the gruesome details are "whipping up a riot" according to Tennessee Bob. Methinks your indignation is sorely misplaced.
Amen to all that, d-back.
