Sculpture

Starr, who released his most recent album Liverpool 8 in January, recently completed a tour of the US and Canada.

The musician currently divides his time between Los Angeles, the South of France and his UK home in Surrey.

In April, a foliage sculpture of Starr outside a railway station in Liverpool was beheaded by vandals.

The performer had reportedly angered some locals when he told the BBC's Jonathan Ross he missed nothing about the city.

I saw a Yoko art show at a free contemporary arts museum. I did not see her though.

You get a credit for Billy Preston.

No interest in seeing Sean Lennon either.

Ringo isn’t the first celebrity to make such a statement. His has been taken much more public. And sometimes such sentiments aren’t voiced until a performer is retired; not actively recording.

There have been athletes who are upset by how much their signed items sold for (example, if a guy had signed a “bat” because there were fewer signed bats than balls). If you really want to take the value of your autograph down, SIGN EVERYTHING. Johnny Cash wasn’t a valuable autograph until he died. Same way with the Ramones (3 dead in 3 consecutive years). After you’ve died, it’s of no concern and you won’t have to sign anything anymore.

And no, I’ve never sent anything to any Beatle or gotten an autograph except from Pete.

” Pop music’s luckiest man ever flips off the minions who made him rich. “

Everything I have read told me that Pete Best just wasn’t going to cut it when The Beatles turned pro & began recording . If they hadn’t gotten Ringo , they’d have gotten somebody else . Ringo was already considered the best on the Liverpool scene and was highly respected amongst the young musicians there . Lucky ?

You're right, of course. He was at the right place at the right time. One could call that luck, but if you think about it all four of them had equal amounts of luck because if any of the pieces had been missing it would not have been nearly what it was. Same goes for their luck in stumbling upon George Martin, who was producing comedy records at the time but turned out to be exactly what they needed. It does seem that, for whatever reason, there was some divine intervention associated with the Beatles.

Everybody just has fun ragging on Ringo because he was the drummer and didn't have the writing and singing talent the others had. Then when he cops an attitude like this, it's easy to say, "Hey, you're just Ringo." It reminds me of my two favorite drummer jokes:

1. Q: What did the drummer get on his IQ test? A: Drool

2. Q: What's a drummer? A: A guy who likes to hang out with musicians.

In that case, I’m sure you’ve heard both of those jokes. It seems like at every show I attend the other band members wind up making fun of the drummer at some point. It’s sort of a running joke. No offense intended.

Here is a good bass player joke :

A Bass player is on a flight to Africa. On approach, he hears drums. “Flight attendant, I hear drums; is there a special ceremony”?
“Drums good”, the attendant replies.
In the taxi, the bass player once again hears drums and asks “I hear drums again, what is going on?”
“Drums good”, says the cab driver.

Once at the hotel, the bass player is determined to ask his question again. But just then, the drums stop. “I have been hearing drums all morning and now they have stopped. What is the meaning of this?”.

The desk clerk frowns and says “That’s bad...now come bass solo”.

New book on John, “John Lennon: The Life” reveals just what a jerk he is. He abused his first son from marriage to Cynthia, his infidelities, his incest fantasies.

You didn’t hang out at Brian Jones’ pool, did you?

I come from a later day. I did shake hands with Joe Strummer and Mick Jones, Neil Armstrong, Red Skelton, and James Brown. And I’ve met Dale Hawkins a couple of times, he says he’s beating his cancer. Missed Paul Burlison’s return (I hear he was working as an electrician when he came out of musical retirement).

You didn’t hang out at Brian Jones’ pool, did you?

Brian's hand when I shook it was dry, and I didn't have to pull at it.

I caught Paul Burlison's brief comeback, it was great, and he said at the time that he had been a "contractor", whatever that means, but since then I learned that it was not him who played on the Trio's records (certainly not on "the Train"), it was Grady Martin.
