That's almost amusing, considering that Rush, Coulter, and Levin were in the tank for a flaming liberal. Same goes for National Review.

And thus back to my original reply: the old voices need to fall by the wayside. They didn't just fail; they proved themselves very short-sighted and disturbingly unprincipled.

Which flaming liberal would that be?

If you were paying attention during the primaries, you would know who National Review, Rush, Levin, and Coulter were shilling.

I recall Rush leaning towards Fred Thompson. Flaming liberal in your mind?

Oh, not Thompson. As it the GOP primaries wound down, it was very clear who Rush backed. And he was a flaming liberal.

Don’t play dumb. It was very clear. You can even dig through the archives here if you feel like it.

Again, don't play dumb.

Riddle me this... who broadcast these words? "I think now, based on the way the campaign has shaken out, that there probably is a candidate on our side who does embody all three legs of the conservative stool, and that’s Romney. The three stools or the three legs of the stool are national security/foreign policy, the social conservatives, and the fiscal conservatives. The social conservatives are the cultural people. The fiscal conservatives are the economic crowd: low taxes, smaller government, get out of the way."

Funny... sounds strangely parallel to National Review's laughable endoresment.

Now go ahead and do some digging on your own.

Regardless of whether you were right or wrong then...what point does it serve now?

As was said then applies now. Poking your fingers in the eyes of folks you NEED to vote for McCain, doesn't seem to be any kind of strategy.

Romney was a flaming liberal? He did muck up on the health care for MA.

I still recall Rush hinting at his support for Fred Thompson although I don’t recall him actually endorsing any candidate.

Yes, but after Thompson dropped out - which depressed me - Rush pushed for Romney because of Rush's deep-seated hatred of McCain. All I'm saying is that it was clear way back then what the stakes were in this election and what the other side was putting forth. Rush, Levin, and Coulter did conservatism no favors in their mission to hurt McCain after he had secured the nomination. Their petty short-sightedness hurt conservatism and I think it might be time to cast those characters aside. They've outlived their usefulness.

true but only in the primary and the way they did it was by saying he isn't a Conservative, which he isn't. That “flaw” however is probably what is going to get him elected, along with giving Conservatives someone to vote for in Palin.

You’re missing the point. Maybe it’s from failing to be “intellectually curious” (a term uttered by the idiot on Chrissy Matthews tonight).

Comments by Rush, Levin and Coulter are consistent with conservatism, not against it. You can’t just change the definition of conservative or of pro-American.

And you can’t change the definition of idiot, either.
