I’d be afraid of being held in contempt of court. They are actually pretty circumspect in polling jurors in Middlesex County, to prevent obvious “draft dodging”. My wife tells me she wants to shout, “I’m a Republican churcher goer who listens to Rush Limbaugh.” I tell her contempt of court isn’t bailable.
In a recent cop-killer case in Manchester, NH, people who responded they were Howie Carr listeners were actually dismissed.
I was told by a retired DA to say that I believed all drug dealers deserve life in prison. He told me the judge would have to remove me from the drug case and neither side would have to use an objection. He said there was a lot of threats to the jury going on in those cases. As my mother was very ill at the time I would have done it. I ended up taking the direct aproach and calling in to request getting out of it. They had me send a letter stating the facts, I was excused and I have NEVER been asked again. Now I want to be asked....LOL.
I will never serve on a jury.
Having been a Police Oficer a Corections Office and working in security for decades my standard answer to can you give a fair hearing to so and so I ansswwr sure. He but in the end he is guilty. The Police had evidence to arrest him or they would not have done so and there for he is guilty, but I am willing to listen to his excuses for it.
Nothing they can do to you for your honest opinion of the situation and they will never take the chance you are bluffing.
