Now there's a self-apparent truth if ever I saw one! There's a jolly good reason why it is called "weed", and here in New Zealand it grows in our volcanic soil faster and stronger than any other plant I've ever seen.
A couple years ago I was driving down Scenic Drive (in the Waitakere Ranges: think "dense Vietnam Jungle" and then double it in density) and as I was coming around a twisty blind corner I nearly wiped into a couple of likely looking lads sauntering across the road with double armloads full of marijuana. Immense plants: more like extra-large shrubs. As if carrying large quantities of controlled substances was the most natural thing in the world to do on a Sunday afternoon...
One thing is dam'nsure: you can bet there was plenty more where that came from. And, naturally, I shook my head in disbelief and drove on without further comment.
It is a waste of police time and resources to try to control something so readily abundant. I'd far prefer our cops to focus on real criminals.
Agreed! I have trouble getting uptight or morally outraged at people smoking a little reefer. The SWAT yahoos knocking down peoples doors and the excessive jail terms handed down for pot is a bit over the top.
If it was legal what would they direct their drug induced feelings of paranoia at? Would the paranoia go away?
