Ha! You think they’re stomping on the constitution now? Wait until President Obama takes office.

Not only are they moving towards Socialism but now they have trashed the Constitution.

The Government has been trashing the Constitution for years, and nobody did anything about it.

Only now, they do it openly and without fear.

With the Constitution, you can either take all of it at face value, even the parts you may disagree with, or you can accept none of it.

Liberals cheered when "penumbras" were found emanating from the Constitution and conservatives cheered when pre-emptive wars were started to "save" the country from third-world powers. And, all the while, both sides spent and spent like there was no tomorrow, while ridiculing and deriding as a "kook" and a "fringe loon" anyone who dared to challenge the status quo by standing up for the Constitution.

Congratulations, my fellow Freepers...come November 4, we will all get the rulers (not the government) that we deserve.

“Who Killed the Constitution” is a book that everyone should read. They have it at Amazon.com. I got it from the library.

I was just explaining this to my children in the car on the way to school this morning.

Where are the conservative republicans on this?

I also heard that the Senate was going to adjourn after they passed their bill.

Can You or anyone else point to the section in the United States Constitution where this bailout is authorised?

The entire premise here is that the bill is to raise revenue. This Bail-out, Buy-in or whatever you want to call it is not raising revenue, but actually spending another Trillion dollars or so. So the sequence of bill legislation is moot.

A Fox news judge said that the bailout, itself, is unconstitutional on 2 grounds.

Probably not. I am sure they are submitting this as an amendment to the original bill. IF you looked at the vote held on Monday, it was a vote to agree to the Senate amendment on the House amendment to Bill XXXX... As long as the underlying bill originated in the House, it is probably constitutional.

This occurred to me last night when I first heard that the Senate was going to do this vote. But I am not surprised. The Constitution is just an old piece of paper written by rich, white old men many of whom were slave holders. Why let it get in the way of a good time?

Yes, that is sarcasm.

The bill failed in the House. Therefore, it is dead. They sent nothing to the Senate.

Why don’t you be a pal and cite the webpage source for your statement? Don’t be sloppy, Dems are sloppy.

No. The vote on Monday was technically to agree to an amendment. The original bill has not come up for a vote yet. That bill can still be amended, and the original bill originated in the House, and was a revenue bill.

Just to see how screwed up the process is, do you want to know what the title of the original bill is?

"HR 3997: To amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to provide earnings assistance and tax relief to members of the uniformed services, volunteer firefighters, and Peace Corps volunteers, and for other purposes"
