Notice that I wrote “had”, so MW is not coming right out and saying they won’t come because these lefties actually “have” fleas, and they don’t want fleas.
It suggests a coy, playful reticence on the noobs’ part: that their hosts have treated for fleas and are now flea-free, and yet they remain shy, somewhat hesitant . . . suggesting something in the future possibly, after Sarah is VP so they can come over and say `Boo-yah! over-and-over.
(Head lice? That might be even better: `We heard your children might have head lice.’?)
