McCain has 48 hours to Fix his Campaign
9-29-2008 | brianbaldwin

McCain has about 48 hours to fix his campaign. This is his last chance, and he has to do this now.

Everyone knows what he needs to do – he needs to come out and say that he is against the plan as it was proposed, that the American people were against it and for good reason, that he is with the American people on this one.

He needs to say there is a better plan, and that this wasn’t the bill and he is glad that the plan as proposed went down because it lacks accountability, it lacks the reform needed.

And that he is ready to move forward with real solutions which Americans will support, and this wasn’t it. And now he is ready to again go to Washington with the message that the American people desire, and he is ready to assist with real reform.

He needs to say this, and he has only about 48 hours to do so.

Once he says this, then that will free up Palin to go on the attack during the Thursday debate. She can then argue on behalf, and with, the American people, that this isn’t what the American people wanted, that this wasn’t the answer, and now it is time to seek real reform and that is what McCain-Palin are about, real reform for the American people.

The message is simple, and it will win the election for McCain. And not only is the message simple, but it is the correct message, the real message Americans want.

He has 48 hours to do this. This is literally his last chance because the old media will lie about what has just happened, and if he doesn’t get this message out, if he is not on board with this, well the media certainly will do him no favors, and he will not only become caught up in a web of old media deceit, he will have lost his entire message of reform.

Now he needs to show the American people, that his ticket is the ticket of reform, and that the Republican Party is the Party of Reform.

I support John McCain, because I now understand how important reform is.

John McCain and Sarah Palin are the reform candidates. Reform is real change. America will understand that. This is his opportunity. And his last chance. The election is now his to win or lose

I had hoped he had figured this out when he picked Governor Palin, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

No, it really is down to days now. American is watching, and you better believe they are.

It is never a good idea to simply be scared. But there are a lot of Americans who are scared. Americans who normally are not interested in politics at all.

But they are all watching now. The next 48 hours.

It’s McCain’s to win or lose. It is all going to come within short order.

I hope he doesn’t blow it.

It’s not in McCain’s nature to come out against the bailout. That’s why he hasn’t and why he probably won’t. If he does, it needs to be stated with conviction and I’m not convinced he can summon that authenticity up.

If by some miracle he does, then he and the Republicans should do nothing but put this on Bush, Paulson and Democrats and particularly Wall Street. Force the Democrats to approve the bailout but on party line vote only. Then take the public’s absolute hatred of this bill and use it against them and promise to make a return to this bill the first legislative priority if they elect McCain/Palin and a Republican house.

There’s opportunity there, but I’m not convinced McCain has it in him.

it was reported her supported the House GOP.

He told them to vote for the bail out, which would only have been wise if it had passed.

McCain has to let his nutsack hang low and come out swinging, naming names, tell the story or Fannie/Freddie, tell the story of Obama/Acorn/Aiers/all shady dealings, repudiate the democrat/bush bill and state he understands the bill of the House Republicans brough about by liberty loving Americans...and agrees, and propose his own Coordinated bill with the House Republicans/People. KHe needs to get rid of Danforth ( one of his chief political advisors, and hire Rove). We are about to run out of tocks.

Yes, the bipartisan thing - that isn’t reform.

That isn’t reform, and if McCain comes out now, and says the right thing, that the American people WERE right, their concerns WERE correct - then he can set Palin lose to be the pitbull with lipstick and she can come out in the Thursday debate ON THE ATTACK and also ON THE SIDE OF THE AMERICAN MAJORITY, and that will turn the worm.

When he looked like he was trying not to be angry, he lost.

Get angry! I want Chavez and Putin scared of us! Why can’t they understand this?

I have to sadly agree with you.

I think there is a chance that John will see this out, that he will agree, because he really does want reform.

Now is his chance to show the courage - and he will win with this courage that we know he has.

But if he does as you say, then it’s over.

Yes, yes, yes, yes - that is exactly right. Name names, and let Sarah out of the cage to attack. While the iron is hot.

I was speaking to Boehner’s staffer on Sunday. I told her that there was a large cry out here in American for our Republican leaders to start fighting for us. To fight the democrats etc.. She acted like she’d never heard anything of the like before.

At times I believe the they ought to change the “inside the beltway” to “Inside the IRON beltway”.

The republicans need to get over being nice and start learning how to fight.

You can take this to heart or ignore it...makes no difference to me. America will not elect a Barrack Hussein Obama. Hes way way way to liberal, he’s an unknown, he’s black and hes a racist. He has ZERO chance of being elected regardless of how this bailout turns out.

I’m not convinced, either. But, by God, the guy does do things, and often, no one would have thought.

In that sense, he just damn might.
