McCain has about 48 hours to fix his campaign. This is his last chance, and he has to do this now.
Everyone knows what he needs to do he needs to come out and say that he is against the plan as it was proposed, that the American people were against it and for good reason, that he is with the American people on this one.
He needs to say there is a better plan, and that this wasnt the bill and he is glad that the plan as proposed went down because it lacks accountability, it lacks the reform needed.
And that he is ready to move forward with real solutions which Americans will support, and this wasnt it. And now he is ready to again go to Washington with the message that the American people desire, and he is ready to assist with real reform.
He needs to say this, and he has only about 48 hours to do so.
Once he says this, then that will free up Palin to go on the attack during the Thursday debate. She can then argue on behalf, and with, the American people, that this isnt what the American people wanted, that this wasnt the answer, and now it is time to seek real reform and that is what McCain-Palin are about, real reform for the American people.
The message is simple, and it will win the election for McCain. And not only is the message simple, but it is the correct message, the real message Americans want.
He has 48 hours to do this. This is literally his last chance because the old media will lie about what has just happened, and if he doesnt get this message out, if he is not on board with this, well the media certainly will do him no favors, and he will not only become caught up in a web of old media deceit, he will have lost his entire message of reform.
Now he needs to show the American people, that his ticket is the ticket of reform, and that the Republican Party is the Party of Reform.
I support John McCain, because I now understand how important reform is.
John McCain and Sarah Palin are the reform candidates. Reform is real change. America will understand that. This is his opportunity. And his last chance. The election is now his to win or lose
bingo!!!! when mccain starts being the mccain that the msm and dems swooned over back in 2000...he freefalls in the polls. why why why don’t these republicans understand that in your face conservatism WINS ALL THE TIME. He still has a full month to get back into gear and find his backbone once again, lets hope and pray he does it.
Besides I usually go the opposite in what Dick Morris says..
Did someone say Obama denoucned communsim? I ran into a neighbor today, can’t repeat what he said, it was rough, life long Democrat, he is not voting Obama, his family is not voting Obama, they hate Bush bad ... Shocked me.
I don’t see that McCain’s message is off track. Obama was already in the chair being hoisted on the Democrats shoulders, then the bill failed. The notion that Democrats gain when the economy tanks is a myth.
The notion that Morris is right about anything, is another myth.
Set Sarah-cuda free ... Energy runs the economy and energy will make things right.
When he started to go new toneish and not respond very, very forcefully to the blatant lies of the Empty Suit is when he fell behind!
Yes, it is damn hard to win an election if the media is in the tank for Obama.
That is a fact.
And the fact also is, that the American people were, and are, overwhelmingly against what the bill represented.
Now John can take this and run with this, and the phony old media will not be able to stop him and his message if he comes out on the side of the American people - to tell them that yes, he is with them on this, that this bill wasn’t the answer. And then he needs to tell the American people he is going to fight for that better answer, real reform, not just a bail out, but real reform, accountability, checks and balances, and to protect the taxpayers, that it is the Democrats to tax and spend, that you cannot tax and spend your way out of this.
He can keep it simple, and still tell the American people that he will fight for a real bill, real change, real reform, and that he understands why the American people saw this bill as none of the above.
Many brave Republicans have shown their courage at this time.
McCain can join with them. This is the time, while the iron is hot.
I think that McCain is going to win.. I mean Barack had to go to Detroit of all places something is not right with the polls this time.
He lost a golden chance. He is allowing his opponent to paint him. I love the "optimism" I read on this site...but I feel it is very naive.
You are of course right that anything can happen. But waiting for a lucky break this late in the game is foolish.
This liquidity crisis and the bailout bill has become the primarty issue of the campaign. More than oil dependence, more than Iraq. Whether he likes it or not. Just railing against “earmarks” is not going to cut it anymore.
McCain needs to start leading the way by getting out in front of this crisis with a broad outline of solutions ...and stop reacting to the media and the Dems who are out to take him down.
He already took credit for working to pass it before it passed. He also said he wished it would pass.
Did Sean Hannity take credit for finding some supersecret evidence of the Fannie Mae/Democrats accepting “responsibility” for the mess (which is really just them same saying that giving bad credit people loans are a good thing. Same difference). The same thing that is on youtube?
That bugs me when he does stuff like that. He reminds me of Geraldo in that regard.
Yes, he needs to hammer many little pukes. And the hammer was just given to him. Thor’s hammer.
I hope he holds the hammer up.
I agree, but I don’t expect McPain to defy his D.C. masters. He is just not conservative, and it shows.
The voting public is against the rescue plan? Oh really:
OPPOSITION TO BAILOUT PLAN FALLS DRAMATICALLY
Monday, September 29, 2008
As Congress prepares to vote on a proposed economic rescue plan, opposition to the measure has declined significantly. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey conducted Sunday found that 33% of Likely Voters now favor the plan while 32% are opposed and 35% are not sure.
For proponents of the legislation, thats a significant improvement. On Friday, just 24% of voters had supported the plan while 50% were opposed. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/business/general_business/opposition_to_bailout_plan_falls_dramatically
GALLUP’S POLLING ON THIS SUBJECT IS VIRTUALLY IDENTICAL TO RASMUSSEN’S . . . ANOTHER DAY OR TWO OF ECONOMIC CARNAGE (WITH NO ACTION FROM CONGRESS) AND THESE NUMBERS WILL BECOME VERY UGLY FOR REPUBLICANS.
i agree that he needs to hit quickly, loudly, and hard.
Don’t remember Animal House, huh?
BULLSHIT!
Yes, and yes, you are correct on both points.
But I agree with Dick Morris. It is NOT too late.
He can go with this message, even now.
If he does, it is going to turn the worm.
Anyone know the validity of American Research? dont think I heard of it before but I like its findings... I hope it is an impartial source instead of right-leaning so that it is a more accurate standard of what is going on out there
http://www.americanresearchgroup.com/ev/
it has mccain 286 to Obama 252 and was updated today
Don't forget the death taxes!
heck, the media says they are not “nice” anyway, so why even bother trying the “bi-partisan” garbage anymore?
