I have owned several model 60 Marlins and they are probably the best buy in a .22 rifle out there. I generally like the Ruger 10/22 better but the Marlins are more accurate. I know there are all kinds of tricked out 10/22's that can be real tack drivers, but as they come out of the box the Marlins are quite a bit more accurate.

I agree with Rio that the Winchester model 92 along with it's big brother the model 86, are the best lever guns ever. That doesn't mean the Marlins aren't really fine guns tho, as is the Winchester model 94.

I’ve never owned a Marlin rifle. Shot plenty of friends’ rimfires. Never a jam and plenty accurate...

However, I owned a Marlin “Super Goose” at one time.

Anybody else make THAT mistake????

I still have a Marlin/Glenfield bolt .22 that I got as a teenager in the early ‘70’s...think it cost $32 new...the trigger is sloppy, the scope was junk from day one...but the dang thing is still accurate as a laser beam. Great tin can slayer and varmit gun when the Mossburg is too much, like when I went after a raccoon in the barn and almost murdered a window unit air conditioner.
