A few weeks ago there was a thread outlining firearm choice and the author recommended a semi-auto shotgun. It was not one of the major brand names but a good quality copy. I can't remember the name. Can anybody help? Thanks!!
Mossberg 500?
Spend a few extra bucks and get yourself a quality name brand shotgun. I own a couple Remington 1100’s and am very happy with them. Stay away from cheap Chinese type copies. You should be able to find a a used 1100 from $350-$500. Very good reliable shotgun!
I’m looking to buy something for home defense. I don’t need all the bells and whistles and I’d like to keep it under $250.00 Anyone have any ideas on a solid shotgun that fits my needs?
A basic, bare-bones Mossberg Pump Action 12 gauge (Model 500) should be less than $250.00 brand new.
Anybody know what you can use in California? I only have a hand-gun right now, but given the circumstances, might be time for an upgrade.
Benelli. Fastest in the world. Google Tom Knapp (sp?) and watch his demonstrations.
Any semi-auto shotgun is legal in California, except those with a pistol grip.
Thanks Inyo-Mono, appreciate the information.
if you’re looking for the copy, you’re probably looking for the stoeger. uses the same inertia drive that makes benelli awesome, is a licensed copy, and sells for about 1/3 as much new.
That’s the one! Thanks, any idea where to pick one up?

Click “shotguns” under “KEYWORDS” above.
That looks like it will take to a list with a couple of threads
with that general theme.
Who gives a shi@. I'm loaded. It's time to rip Government apart and rebuild based on the Constitution.
You know what? You’re right. None of those bastards have followed any laws or rules.
check http://www.stoegerindustries.com/customer_service/dealer_locator.php for a dealer locator for new guns.
for used ones, its hit or miss. start checking local gun shops, pawnshops, gunshows if there’s one close, or online auction sites.
Mossberg, you can’t go wrong.
They’re looking for a semi-auto, not a pump.
The state’s regulations are published on-line, here:
http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/regs/
For the past few years, the law has been tinkered with on an annual basis. Always good to check the current regs before purchasing. Comply or not, it’s best to know for sure before you accidentally commit a felony...
